“The Divine Nine…Crossing the Sands of Time”

Awards will be given to the top three teams. Please see the forms section for the official entry form and agreement.
By completing this online registration, you are agreeing to the following:
AGREEMENT
The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (hereinafter, "NPHC") and applying team (hereinafter, "Step-team")
Whereas the NPHC agrees to plan, organize, and execute a step show to be called the “The Divine Nine…Crossing the Sands of Time” (hereinafter, called "Step show ") to be held at the venue and on the date provided to the selected teams.
NPHC
agrees to provide the following step show prizes:
$ 1,500.00 to the first place team + trophy
$ 1,000.00 to the second place team + trophy
$ 500.00 to the third place team + trophy
The NPHC agrees to provide a suitable venue for the step show competition, including but not limited to efficient sound equipment, secure staging, staffing and all other production requirements to facilitate the successful presentation of the program.
Step
team agrees to/that:
1. Adhere to the rules and show criteria as stated in the show information packet
which is part of this agreement.
2. Perform at the step show according to the judging criteria stated in the show information packet.
3. Arrive at and take part in performance and practice sessions as indicated by the sponsoring organization.
4. Return a signed contract as per stated deadlines.
5. Pay a non-refundable $150.00 entry fee.
6. Notify NPHC Headquarters no less than 30 days prior to the show date, in the event the team cannot perform.
7. Not use fire, helium balloons, or confetti in the show. The NPHC must approve all props and special requirements.
8. All members of the step team are active/financial members with their affiliate chapter and their chapter in good standing with their respective NPHC council.
9. The Step team assumes all risk in its performance of all activities authorized by this agreement and is responsible for all actions whatsoever committed by your team that may cause harm or injury to persons or property.
10. The team will be required to include both a traditional and contemporary step in the show and include information about the purpose of their respective organizations.
11. Adhere to show Rules & Regulations:
a.
Undergraduate, graduate, and mixed teams(Undergraduates and Graduates) are eligible
to compete.
b. All teams must report to all scheduled meetings, and practice sessions on
time.
c. If a team member is found to be grossly unsportsmanlike-like causing a disruption
to the show, the team will be disqualified. Any profanity, nudity, or unnecessary
disrespect shown to anyone, or any organization on or off stage, will result
in disqualification.
d. Entry fees are non-refundable whether your team steps or not.
e. No pyrotechnics may be used in your show.
f. Have all music cued on one tape/CD. A person should be assigned to instruct
the sound person as to when music is needed during the show.
g. The team will have a total of 12 minutes to perform; this includes both the
Introduction and Exit step. Two points will be deducted for each minute that
the team exceeds the 12- minute allotment.
h. Only the step team performers and music coordinator will be admitted into
the show for free.
i. Members of your organization or local council other than those specified
to perform may not be backstage or on stage any time during the show.
j. Anyone caught trying to sneak people, alcohol, drugs, or other contraband
into the show will have their team forfeited from the competition.
k. The decision of the judges is final.
l. The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. will not be held responsible for
the actions of the contestants.
12. Adhere to the show Judging Criteria:
a. One judge from each NPHC or affiliate organization shall be chosen to judge. Judging will be based on an average derived from the total points earned, minus the high and low scores.

The above rules and conditions are final. The Step team represents, by completing
this registration process, that they are authorized to enter into this performance
agreement by both their college/university (if applicable) and affiliate organization.
By completing this registration process you are agreeing to all rules and conditions
herein stated. It is further your understanding that failure to comply with
any portion of the aforementioned can result in disqualification or point deduction,
as to be determined by show coordinator(s) and/or judges. NPHC reserves the
right to amend this agreement without prior notice; participants will be notified
of changes, if any.
In witness thereof, the Step team and NPHC have executed this agreement the day and year indicated on the registration receipt.

Upon review and approval, a confirmation letter and step team packet will be sent to the team contact for teams selected via US mail and/or electronic mail. The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is currently composed of nine (9) International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Phi Psi Fraternity, Inc. NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.
On May 10, 1930, on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, the National Pan-Hellenic Council was formed as a permanent organization with the following charter members: Omega Psi Phi and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternities, and Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta and Zeta Phi Beta Sororities. In 1931, Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternities joined the Council. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority joined in 1937 and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity completed the list of member organizations in 1996. The stated purpose and mission of the organization in 1930 was “Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations.” Early in 1937, the organization was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois and became known as the “National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated.”
